Top Website Design Trends for 2021

Your website is stale and you know it's time for a refresh. First, kudos on getting through the first step - knowing your current website is no longer doing what it should be. The next step is a really important one. You need your newly built or redesigned website to be great. Otherwise, it won't be worth all the effort and investment it will require from your busy team.

Data Driven Design is here to do this important task for you! We want you to love your new website. We want you to thrive! There are so many exciting options, it can be difficult to know exactly what your new website should look like and how it should function. Probably one of the easiest ways to get the creative juices flowing is to take a quick look at what's popular right now. Do any of these sound like the right idea for your brand's new website?

Incorporate videos to tell your visitors what your company is all about

People love videos! Video backgrounds are fantastic because they can instantly communicate what your company is about. It’s popular now to feature “B-roll” footage on the home page and then have a button to play the full corporate video in a pop-over lightbox. Beyond this, there are plenty of other ways to feature video.

Add in 3D Visuals

With the spread of higher resolution screens, designers can now incorporate 3D for animations and illustrations. Compared to tons of photos, including 3D visuals can offer better product visualization for e-commerce sites.

Use minimal, organic designs

This look is incredibly trendy right now. If it fits in with your branding, this is a great place to start thinking about a website redesign. Abstract, asymmetrical images that mimic natural curves and fluid organic shapes are dominating website trends this year. There’s a lot of white space that’s off-balance, copy that expands beyond the text box or doesn’t have a box at all, and overlapping images. Keep your shapes, images, and headlines fluid and overlapping.

Work in emojis

More than 60 percent of people say emojis make conversations more fun and playful. They are an excellent medium for communicating thoughts and feelings, known as non-verbal messaging. Your brand may be able to harness this power if you're positioned correctly!

If you haven’t updated your website design in the last few years, it’s time to do so. There’s a good chance it falls short of current website standards and trends. There's no hard line as far as how old is too old, but it's probably time if you haven’t updated your website in more than three years. Your website is your company's first impression. If it's not conveying the right message to your potential customers, it's time to reach out to our team about a redesign.
